The second night after we bought it - was awaken in the middle of the night with a sound and the fan went off. Sat up, looked around; the clock was on, so was the cell phone charger. So it wasn't like we lost power. Walked over to the fan we bought yesterday and found the 4th piano switch pressed in but no power. Tried to turn it on again but it would not stay. Could keep it pressed and the fan would work but if I let go, the switch stayed down limp and fan would go off. So I tried the next lower switch for the 1st time and that took al beit at a slower speed. So now 3rd day onwards, I have a paper weight on top of the 4th piano switch which keeps the fan from turning off at the highest setting.How high can I rate a fan that has a malfunctioning switch the second day? Plus side, it is quiet and the grill is not all plastic like some. You can take it off and put it back after cleaning. It puts out about as much air as one would expect from a 16inch fan.Update: Late Aug the next highest speed switch now does not work too. Item was received early July. I now use a pressure cooker (steel) weight to keep switch down. But that weight is not enough. So I put a metal stapler on top of that. It works. Its a 3speed fan - two Gonzo.

I just bought 2 16" Optimus F-1610 Table Fans.The fans are nice looking and have 3 speed piano keys which I like a lot better than the dial type 3 speeds.The fans work great, put out a lot of air, and are quiet. The metal clips to hold the front and back grill together are easy to get off if you need to clean it.Peg

I purchased five of these fans to circulate the air in five separate rooms. After assembly, I found that three of the fans had a malfunctioning "medium" speed. When you depressed the button it would just pop right back up once you let go. As I mostly use the fans on "hi" anyway, I dediced to keep these three fans. On day two, the first day these three fans were in operation, I heard a loud and ominous racket coming from the three rooms in which the fans were placed. Upon investigation I found the fans shimmying, a lot, and about to fall off the edge of the tables on which they were placed. I spent the rest of day two disassembling these three fans and repacking them for return. As to the other two fans-All buttons operated on these two, however, after assembling them, and turning them on, they oscillated right, once. Then left, once and then it stayed in the left position and started going "chink-ah, chink-ah, chink" and then fell over! These fans were disassembled and repacked on day one for return. All five were returned and I would NOT recommend this fan to anyone based on my experience. Very poor quality. I got what I paid for. Am now looking for a higher cost fan that will reflect the quality that I am looking for in a fan. Namely, an oscillating desk fan - that works!
