Like the Energizer Bunny
By John Clark
I have two of these fans to circulate the air in a large room when my wood stove is running. I generally turn them on in November and turn them off in March (they are up on a high shelf by the ceiling and require a ladder to get to, so it's a biggish deal to turn them on and off). I have had these two for 6 years. That is 6 years times 5 months equals 30 months of near continuous usage. As to the "weenie" motor comment, I am not sure what that means. The output of a fan is determined by blade speed and blade pitch, these things turn fast, are quiet, and put out plenty of "wind" and after all this use, I have no complaints.

Fan 4 years after purchase
By Lisa L.
I bought this fan at a Bed, Bath and Beyond about four years ago. It was expensive but I was tired of the wimpy plastic fans that promised much (particularly the box fans), but delivered little in the way of air flow. I'd gone through so much money buying cheap plastic fans, I decided to invest a bit more, and the Hunter was one of the first fans I'd seen that was all metal. My overall feeling about it four years down the road is that given the fans within this price range I still think it was a good buy. It has problems after 4 years, but of all the other fans I've bought, the air flow is still better than average and I have no doubt the metal blades make the difference. I have two other fans that are plastic and the heft of the air flow is noticeably less than with the Hunter. One problem I've had is that last year the oscillating function crapped out, but it turned out to be a happy development as I discovered that oscillation is overrated. Having the fan put out a steady flow of air in one direction had a greater cooling effect. It seems that a moving fan would deliver more cool air, but in fact it diffuses the desired effect, and for the five seconds it blows across you, the momentary relief is hardly satisfying. So now I set all my fans so they don't oscillate.Another drawback is on the highest setting it sounds like a small airplane idling on a runway--this has been a development over time. I actually have to keep it on the middle setting when the TV is on.It is an expensive fan, and has it's drawbacks. But over the years I've had a lot of fans and this one has held up better than most, and still puts out a good air flow after four years. All-in-all I still think it was a good purchase and would probably buy another one. A heavier fan like this just does a better job in my estimation. There may be better fans at a higher price, but at $59.95, this fan was about as much as I want to spend. I think having to pay more than that for a bit of cool air is ridiculous and a rip off.

WHY I LOVE THE WIND.........
By Kiwi
I love this fan because it comes fully assembled; out of the box, fully intact. I love this fan because it has a good weight to it and sits flat on any surface. I love this fan because it has a grounding plug which also steadies the energy and the electricity. I love this fan because it's handsome, classic and antique all at the same time; the oil rubbed bronze is really special. I love this fan because the setting knob slides easily to high, medium and low and it's quiet and smooth. It's basic, but sturdy with no remote controls or any technology nonsense!I've wanted to buy this fan for several years but it always seemed to be out of stock. I smartened up this year and bought it long before I'll actually need it.....If you see it, you'd better snatch it up when you can !! You'll really love it and chances are you'll buy another one. Highly recommended for any room in the house and especially the bedroom for sleeping.
