Do not be deceived: The fan "now sold as PMX" is clearly not the same product as the Massey fan. My little Massey fan can create an impressive breeze and really does work for cooling one down quickly at the desktop. The new "now sold as PMX" fan is nothing but a cheap, flimsy, knock-off that barely moves air. I will be returning this PMX thing. This is not the fan I wanted when I went searching by brand name for another Massey. This PMX thing cannot ethically be represented as the same product.Update: The Comfort Zone fan (***eligible for Amazon Prime!***) is truly more comparable to the original Massey. It really moves some good air for its size and is of quality construction.

I bought this fan at my local big box store and it works well for me. I have it sitting about 2 feet from me on my desk at work. There is an on/off switch and that's it. No variable speed.It is not that loud but there is a slight hum. In my office environment this is perfectly acceptable and does the trick to keep me cool and provides a little white noise while working.I have had it for approx 6 months, use it daily for at least 4 hours and it still runs like it was brand new. Recommended if you need a small fan and don't need adjustable speed control or oscillation.

RornDoone is absolutely correct in calling the PMX a cheap knockoff. I partially disassembled both a Massey and a PMX, both of which I had purchased at Walmart at different times. I cleaned the Massey and was trouble shooting a never-before-used PMX that didn't work. The Massey not only puts out twice as high a volume of air than a PMX (which I found out after I got the cheap PMX working), but its components are much more substantial than the PMX. The PMX fully supports the well-deserved stigma applied toward most Chinese manufacturing. I recommend getting an older Massey if you can find one, and skipping on the PMX. If you can't find a Massey and want an effective little personal fan, just get anything larger than 4".
